Thermochromic Heat Transfer Vinyl, also known as temperature color changing vinyl, is a specialty heat-applied material that changes color in response to temperature, widely used in garment decoration and creative design. Made with premium TPU/PES material, it offers excellent flexibility, durability, and strong fabric adhesion — ensuring a soft feel, great stretch recovery, and long-lasting wash performance. The vinyl contains thermochromic pigments that activate at around body temperature (approx. 30–35°C), creating a reversible color-change effect — from color to clear, color to color, or clear to color — perfect for interactive apparel, novelty items, and eye-catching promotional products.

Application

  • Apparel — t-shirts, hats, hoodies where touching or body heat triggers the change
  • Novelty items — mugs, bags, promotional products
  • Kids' products — color-changing clothing or accessories
  • Interactive designs — hidden messages or artwork revealed by touch or heat

How to Use Thermochromic Heat Transfer Vinyl

    Step-by-Step Guide

    1. Prepare Your Design
Load thermochromic HTV into your cutting machine (Cricut, Silhouette, Brother, etc.). Place the shiny carrier sheet face down on the cutting mat.
    2. Mirror Your Image
Always mirror your design before cutting, since it is applied face-down on the fabric.
    3. Weed Excess Vinyl
Remove unwanted material using a weeding tool, leaving only the design on the carrier sheet.
    4. Pre-Press Fabric
Heat press at around 320°F (160°C). Pre-press the fabric for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
    5. Apply Heat
Place the design face-down on the fabric and cover with a PTFE Teflon sheet or parchment paper. Press with medium to firm pressure for 10–15 seconds.
    6. Peel the Carrier Sheet
Allow the material to cool slightly (warm or cold peel depending on product). Peel slowly at a 45-degree angle.
