How to Use Chameleon Heat Transfer Vinyl
Using Chameleon Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) is simple when following proper heat press steps. It is compatible with standard cutting machines and heat press equipment, suitable for both beginners and professionals.
Step 1: Design & Cut
Create your design and mirror the image before cutting. Place the vinyl with the colored side facing down on the cutting mat, then cut using a vinyl cutter (Cricut, Silhouette, Graphtec, etc.).
Step 2: Weed the Design
Carefully remove excess vinyl around the design. The chameleon layer is thin, so use a weeding tool for precision.
Step 3: Position on Fabric
Place the design on cotton, polyester, or blended fabrics. Ensure the adhesive side is fully contacting the fabric.
Step 4: Heat Press Application
- Temperature: 150–160°C (302–320°F)
- Time: 10–15 seconds
- Pressure: Medium pressure
Step 5: Peel the Carrier Sheet
Allow the vinyl to cool completely and perform a cold peel to remove the carrier film smoothly.
Step 6: Final Press (Recommended)
Press again for 2–3 seconds using a Teflon sheet or parchment paper to improve durability.
Pro Tips
- Always test on a small fabric sample first
- Avoid stretching fabric immediately after pressing
- Do not wash within 24 hours after application
- Use medium pressure for best adhesion and color effect
