How to Use White HTV Vinyl

  • Create Your Design — Prepare the artwork and mirror it before cutting.
  • Cut the Vinyl — Set the cutting machine according to the selected HTV material and thickness.
  • Weed the Design — Remove the excess vinyl and keep the required graphic on the carrier film.
  • Preheat the Garment — Preheat the fabric for a few seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles, helping create a clean transfer surface.
  • Press onto Fabric — Place the design on the garment and apply the recommended temperature, pressure and pressing time for the specific HTV.
  • Peel the Film — Peel the carrier film according to the product's hot, warm or cold peel requirement.
  • Finish the Transfer — Allow the garment to cool and check that the edges and details are firmly transferred.

Note: Transfer settings vary between matte, glossy, glitter, puff, flock, printable and other White HTV finishes. Always follow the recommended settings for the selected product.

FAQs

  • What is white heat transfer vinyl?

White heat transfer vinyl, also called white iron-on vinyl or white HTV vinyl, is a white-colored heat-applied film used to create bright, opaque designs on fabric. It is ideal for adding white text, logos, numbers, and graphics to dark T-shirts, hoodies, bags, uniforms, and other textiles.

  • Can I sublimate on white HTV vinyl?

Yes, but only if the white heat transfer vinyl is specifically designed for sublimation. Apply the white sublimation HTV to the garment first, then heat-press the sublimation print onto the vinyl. Standard white iron-on vinyl is not recommended for sublimation.

  • Can you print on white HTV?

Yes, if it is printable white HTV made for your printer type. Printable white HTV can accept full-color designs and is ideal for dark or light fabrics. Standard white HTV is designed for cutting and heat pressing only, not direct printing.

  • How can you tell clear from white heat transfer vinyl?

White HTV has an opaque white vinyl layer, while clear HTV is transparent and allows the garment color to show through. Check the actual vinyl film—not the clear carrier sheet, which is transparent on both types. White HTV is best for dark fabrics, while clear HTV is generally used on white or light-colored fabrics.

  • Is white heat transfer vinyl only good for white shirts?

No. White heat transfer vinyl works on both light and dark shirts, but it is especially effective on black, dark-colored, or brightly colored fabrics because the white film creates a bold, opaque, high-contrast design. On white shirts, it can still be used for textured, glossy, glitter, or layered effects.

  • What finishes are available in white HTV?

Available finishes include matte, glossy, reflective, glitter, 3D puff, flocked, printable and glow-in-the-dark options.

  • What materials are available for white HTV?

PU, TPU, PET, PVC and silicone materials are available depending on the product and application requirements.

  • Do you offer rolls and sheets?

Yes. White HTV vinyl is available in both rolls and sheets, depending on the product and order requirements.

  • How long does bulk production take?

Standard bulk orders generally take around 7–21 working days.

  • How quickly can samples be prepared?

Standard samples: 1 working day. Custom samples: 3 working days.

  • What certifications do you have?

Our products can be supplied with certifications including OEKO-TEX, REACH, RoHS, CE, CPSIA, ISO and CA Prop 65, depending on the product.
